Solar Electric Systems
Starfire Energy has worked with many individuals to help them install their own solar electric system.
Did you know there are over 75 unique parts required to install a solar electric system. Our experts
know how and when each part gets used and can ensure your installation meets electric and local code
requirements.
Please note that the 2011 NEC requires that solar electric arrays and associated equipment be installed
only by qualified persons. If your jurisdiction is still on 2008 NEC code you may consider either of the
options below. For design assistance only, we have consulting services available.
DIY NEC 2011 Option - Design, Parts and Training - we take care of the paperwork details and
you join our team for the installation. There is some safety training you'll need in advance of joining us,
but we keep that as painless as possible. We can reduce the size of your project's installation team
giving you more opportunity for labor savings by performing more tasks yourself.
DIY NEC 2008 Option - Design, Parts and Coaching - we take care of the paperwork details and train you on
each phase of the installation. Then you complete the phase and we join you to quality check your efforts
and train you for the next segment of work. We strongly recommend that our master electrician, who has a
great deal of solar experience, perform all electrical related tasks.
We encourage people joining us for their own installations to do extensive reading about system design and
installation before beginning. There are books available on the subject, and Home Power Magazine is a wealth
of do-it-yourself knowledge. An even better option would be to take courses in photovoltaic system design and
installation from a good school such as Solar Energy International.
Feel free to contact us to discuss the details of your do-it-yourself project.
